Only One Thing Matters
If you are experiencing hard times as I currently do ( the demise of a loved one), you may find relief reading this short story offered by the "Inspirational Peak" site you may visit here:
http://www.inspirationpeak.com/cgi-bin/stories.cgi?record=110
But in case you are in a hurry, I'm pleased to cut it short for you by re-posting the story as follows:
"That Is Enough"
Unknown Author
A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said, "Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side."
Very quietly, the doctor said, "I don't know."
"You don't know? You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side?"
The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room with his tail wagging and an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said, "Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside... He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing. I know my Master is there and that is enough."

Sharing For An Auspicious Day
On this auspicious Day, - 7th of August : Ivory Coast National day -
it's my pleasure to share with all friends and readers a short story from
Barbara Hug entitled "The Given Light".
This inspiring tale emphasizes the sense of
sharing and solidarity, two indispensable virtues in building a strong
community and beyond a prosperous nation.
"The Given Light,
By Barbara Hug.
Once upon a time a man had heard, that in a
foreign place, far away, there was a holy flame burning. So he got up and left
his home to find the holy flame and bring some of its light back home to his
house.
He thought: 'When I have this light, then I
will have happiness and life and all the people I love will have it too.'
He travelled far, far away and finally found
the holy flame, with which he lit his light. On his way back he had only one
worry: 'That his light could go out.'
On his way home he met someone who was
freezing and didn't have any fire and who begged him to give him some of his
fire. The man with the light hesitated for a moment. Wasn't his light too
precious, too holy to be given away for something ordinary like that?
Despite these doubts, he decided to give some
of his light to the one who was freezing in the darkness.
The man continued his journey home and when he
had almost reached his house a terrible thunderstorm started. He tried to
protect his light from the rain and the storm, but at the end his light went
out.
To return the long way back to the place where
the holy flame was burning was impossible, he wouldn't have had enough strength
to go back this far - but he was strong enough to return to the human being
whom he had helped on his way home.
.........and with his light he could light his
own again."
Warmest regards,
May Peace be on all Nations!

L'INCREVABLE DR.
• Elles sont provisoires;
• Elles peuvent vous lâcher à tout instant;
• Elles dépannent ou servent le temps d’une course rapide;
1. Elle est très solide;
2. Elle est durable (jusqu'à 15 ans de résistance et même plus);
3. Elle est pratique (on peut courir sans inquiétude);
4. Elle est confortable;
5. Elle est ‘’tout terrain’’ (en ville, comme dans la forêt);
6. Elle laisse les pieds sans odeur (même après une longue journée);
7. Elle est unisexe (de quoi plaire à tous les genres);
8. Elle présente à chaque série un design racé et raffiné;
9. Elle n’est pas chère, (malgré sa qualité exceptionnelle et inégalée);

SUPERBUS TRAPPED BY HIS OWN CLAIMS
SUPERBUS TRAPPED BY HIS OWN CLAIMS
A quote by Richelle E. Goodrich, will introduce a story about a man, whom for the purpose of this article I decided to call "Superbus".
" A session of boasting won't attract any real friends. It will set you up on a pedestal, however making you a clearer target".
On day, surrounded by his numerous "friends," Superbus said that when his mother will pass away, he will cut into solid rock (granite rock), build and carve for her a funeral monument. He said this in front of parents and friends.
Some of his relatives discreetly advised him to never boast because of his new assignment as a chief executive in a company.
Indeed, this kind of position may change over the years. In these days of successive economic crisis and insatiable consumption, nothing is guaranteed.
Years passed, his ''chief-executive'' salary skyrocketed but his domestic and non-domestic expenses likewise grew exponentially and accordingly.
Apart from his virtuous wife, he was infatuated with a capricious and free-spending mistress.
A couple of years later Superbus' mom passed away, but unfortunately her only beloved son, who loved his mother that much was unable to fulfill his promise. He stayed quiet and dumb, devastated by his mom's brutal and unexpected death. Superbus is still dumb up to now.
The moral to draw for this brief story is as follows:
It's a good thing to dream. Yet, the dreams should be kept in a reasonable fashion. Being ambitious and having great visions is perfect to stimulate human activities and set reachable goals.
But daydreaming is not a way to go. Persevering in daydreaming very often kill decision making process and action taking.
Boasting is even an uglier behavior to avoid at all costs because it has the vicious consequence to set you as a huge favorite target for jealous listeners. They wait for the next occasion to ridicule the targeted boaster.
"Speech is silver but silence is golden", no need to boast publicly, the way Superbus did. All the contrary, in the silence of your heart and the wise advice of your beloved wife, as your only capable counselor, draw up your dearest projects.
Set a plan, put in place achievable goals, follow a set schedule, fix deadlines, take a step by step approach for any action, refine your strategy, if necessary.
Action taking requires deep thinking, hard brainstorming and sustained efforts. Slothfulness, delaying tactic and procrastination will never construct a nest neither a house nor a city.
Decide, avoid boasting like the plague, leave your dreams, proceed for actions!

PATIENCE
“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.”
― Aristotle
“Patience is power.
Patience is not an absence of action;
rather it is "timing"
it waits on the right time to act,
for the right principles
and in the right way.”
― Fulton J. Sheen
“The strongest of all warriors are these two — Time and Patience.”
― Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace
“No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude and humility. All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of God . . . and it is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire and which will make us more like our Father and Mother in heaven.”
― Orson F. Whitney
“Patience gives your spouse permission to be human. It understands that everyone fails. When a mistake is made, it chooses to give them more time that they deserve to correct it. It gives you the ability to hold on during the rough times in your relationship rather than bailing out under the pressure.”
― Stephen Kendrick, The Love Dare
“Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.”
― Margaret Atwood, The Penelopiad
“Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.”
― John Quincy Adams

PRUDENCE
“Prudence is the footprint of Wisdom.”
― Amos Bronson Alcott
“Wisdom and prudence are always recompensed.”
― Sophie Segur, Old French Fairy Tales
“In some situations, if you say nothing, you are called dull; if you talk, you are thought impertinent and arrogant. It is hard to know what to do in this case. The question seems to be, whether your vanity or your prudence predominates.”
― William Hazlitt, Selected Essays, 1778-1830
“When nobody practices what they strongly believe in, that day will be a triumph of prudence.”
― Bauvard, Evergreens Are Prudish
“Nothing wrong with cowardice as long as it comes with prudence. But when a coward stops remembering who he is...God help him.”
― Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner
“Do not spend the day in gathering flowers by the way side, lest night come upon you before you arrive at your journey's end, and then you will not reach it.”
― Isaac Watts, Logic: The Right Use of Reason After Truth
“I’d relived enough terrible events happening to cautious people to know that prudence wasn’t a guarantee for happiness.”
― Jeaniene Frost, Once Burned

HOPE
“I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one's head pointed toward the sun, one's feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death.”
― Nelson Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom: Autobiography of Nelson Mandela
“Everyone must dream. We dream to give ourselves hope. To stop dreaming - well, that's like saying you can never change your fate. Isn't that true?”
― Amy Tan, The Hundred Secret Senses
Yes We Can!”
― Barack Obama
“To hear the phrase "our only hope" always makes one anxious, because it means that if the only hope doesn't work, there is nothing left.”
― Lemony Snicket, The Blank Book
“Walk on with hope in your heart,
and you'll never walk alone”
― Shah Rukh Khan
“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.”
― Epicurus
“Remember, Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”
― Stephen King
“Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed.”
― Alexander Pope
“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.

ONLY LOVE SUFFICES
“Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion, it is not the desire to mate every second minute of the day, it is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every cranny of your body. No, don't blush, I am telling you some truths. That is just being "in love", which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.”
― Louis de Bernières, Captain Corelli's Mandolin
“It takes courage to love, but pain through love is the purifying fire which those who love generously know. We all know people who are so much afraid of pain that they shut themselves up like clams in a shell and, giving out nothing, receive nothing and therefore shrink until life is a mere living death.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt
“But love is always new. Regardless of whether we love once, twice, or a dozen times in our life, we always face a brand-new situation. Love can consign us to hell or to paradise, but it always takes us somewhere. We simply have to accept it, because it is what nourishes our existence. If we reject it, we die of hunger, because we lack the courage to stretch out a hand and pluck the fruit from the branches of the tree of life. We have to take love where we find it, even if that means hours, days, weeks of disappointment and sadness.
The moment we begin to seek love, love begins to seek us. And to save us.”
― Paulo Coelho, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept
“The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.”
― Mother Teresa

FAITH FIRST
“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”
― C.S. Lewis
“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
“Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right.”
― Max Lucado, He Still Moves Stones
“All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.”
― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
“If he’s not calling you, it’s because you are not on his mind. If he creates expectations for you, and then doesn’t follow through on little things, he will do same for big things. Be aware of this and realize that he’s okay with disappointing you. Don’t be with someone who doesn’t do what they say they’re going to do. If he’s choosing not to make a simple effort that would put you at ease and bring harmony to a recurring fight, then he doesn’t respect your feelings and needs. “Busy” is another word for “asshole.” “Asshole” is another word for the guy you’re dating. You deserve a fcking phone call.”
― Greg Behrendt
“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”
― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
“Do not think that love in order to be genuine has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired. Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.”
― Mother Teresa
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
